I made the mistake of comparing that with Namesake!!! I must be nuts.will write more later.

The Age of Shiva
The book i am hooked on to now is The Age of Shiva by Manil Suri. Its a good book,i had some reservations about men writing about women and vice versa. But he definetly knows what he is talking about. A different story.

Here goes the books i love
The first novel i can remember i read was Thomas Hardy's Far From The Madding Crowd,(i used to think its - Away From The Madding Crowd-for some reason!)and the Mayor of Caterbridge.
Then the next one i can remember well even now is-Gone With The Wind,of course:),by Margaret Mitchel.Scarlet O'hara is still fresh in my mind. And when i got to see the movie,Rhett Butler looked the same as i imagined him would be, when i read the novel:)
But my first love was Shogun. I remember one word from that novel even now,i read it more than 15 years back. Tatami:)and i went to japan and lived among those characters till i was done with the novel. It was a great experience knowing the Samurais:)
Next came Roots by Alex Haley. That was a very touching story which i want my son to read. But now i dont think he would read anything else until he is finished with Eddings ..

Books
Some books has the capability of taking you along with the story and you become a silent witness to all that happens in that story. When the story ends, you feel so empty, you feel like you are missing something, you are suddenly left in the middle of nowhere. It takes a while for you to get back to normalcy.Thats the magic of books:)
I am glad my son is a good reader,he spends hours reading:)Though at first the books he read was non fictions, like Atlas,Encyclopedia,Guinnes book of world records etc etc. Then his teacher told us,he needs to read some fictions too.Hmm,thank god,he got hooked on to Harry Potter almost at the same time:)Now he is in to David Eddings and wants to finish all the books in that series.
My friend suggested about creating a book blog:)She gives right ideas at the right times:)Thanks Reenie:)I think i am going to enjoy writing about the books i enjoyed reading, as it would be like reading them again.
